Wates Wins Contract for Hammersmith Grove

Wates Construction has been named as the company that has successfully won the contract to be able to work on the brand new offices, which are to be built in Hammersmith Grove in West London.

The construction firm has been awarded the hotly fought for contract by the property firm Development Securities. The job is estimated to be worth as much as £50 million, Construction Enquirer is reporting. To commence straight away, the work involves the creation of no less than 110,000 square feet of over a nine storey structure, in addition to a number of leisure units that will accommodate around 6000 square feet of eateries.

The full site is 1.5 acres in size and is entirely owned by Department Securities, and is set to include public space as well as eventually containing 275,000 square feet of workspace. The first phase of the project has already been funded by the Scottish Widows Investment Property Partnership Trust and is expected to be finished by next year. The commercial property is situated in a highly convenient location next to the underground Hammersmith & City Line station, with the offices having been designed by architects BFLS.

“The scheme will play an important part in the regeneration of Hammersmith’s town centre, attracting first class occupiers to this prime location,” says Julian Barwick, the man who is the director of Development Securities.
