UK Fashion Hub, iCITY, and Oxylane Group have been put on the shortlist as long-term tenants for the Olympic Press and Broadcast Centre following the conclusion of the summer sporting event. The Broadcast Centre will offer as much as 575,000 square feet of studio space across two levels plus 95,000 square feet of East London office space across five floors. The Press Centre will also be able to provide another 317,000 square feet of office space, with the added potential for the ground floor to be transformed into a retail hub.
Each of the three organisations that have been placed on the shortlist are interested in taking all of the available space, and all were chosen for their commitment to creating opportunities for employment and training in the local area. Whichever firm is ultimately selected, they will be able to move in during the spring of next year.
“We have three dynamic bids focused on the creation of thousands of jobs and training opportunities, along with links to Tech City,” says Andrew Altman, the chief executive officer of the OPLC (Olympic Park Legacy Company). “We will now go through their proposals in fine detail to make sure that they can deliver a successful ongoing legacy that will stimulate future commercial interest.”
UK Fashion Hub plans to turn the two buildings into a fashion and textile manufacturing centre, while iCITY wants them to be graphic design, cloud computing and digital education and the Oxylane Group hopes to use one as a hub for office and technology and the other for research and education.
