Five reasons to hire temporary office space for the summer

There’s no time like summertime. The heat, the holidays, the feeling of festivity floating through the air…

If you work from home, though, the summer holidays may mean a challenging disruption to your normal working routine.

With the children off school it can be difficult to find the time and focus to work as efficiently as you’d like.

As adorable as they are, those little scamps demand a lot of attention – and that can take its toll on a busy work schedule.

Hiring temporary office space for the summer is a great way to restore the balance. Here are five reasons to jump ship and get yourself your own little sanctuary:

A change of scenery

Looking at the same old things in the same old rooms can become dull and uninspiring. A change of scenery may be just the thing to get you refocused and motivated.

You don’t have to go far. Your new office space may only be a few streets away – but there’s something about being in a new environment that makes you see things differently.

New surroundings often inspire creativity and innovative thinking. You may suddenly find a solution to a problem you’ve been agonising over, or complete your to-do list in record time. Only one way to find out!

Peace and quiet

The summer holidays can be trying for work-from-home parents. Much as you love them, kids can’t help making noise. Lots of it.

Most likely they’ll be delighted you’re at home with them, and will be doing everything they can to get your attention. Not ideal if you’re trying to work.

Having your own office will give you a peaceful space to escape to. With no distractions you’ll get your work done much quicker, giving you more time to play with your little monsters at the end of the day.

Space to think

If you work in the same building you relax in (i.e. home) you may start to feel like you’re always at work.

Having a dedicated office space to go to each day will help you separate your work from your home life, making home feel like a restful sanctuary to return to at the end of the day.

Establish a routine

You may already have the discipline to stick to a regular working routine at home – or you may not. Either way, with the kids off school any semblance of a routine will soon go out the window.

Travelling to an office each day will help you reestablish your routine. Act like a nine-to-fiver: decide on a start and finish time and stick to them.

This will help you plan your time better and focus your energy more efficiently.

Discover new places

Hiring a temporary office space may lead you to places you’ve never been before. Even if those new places are only 20 minutes from home, it can still be exciting.

Perhaps you’ll discover a gem of a coffee shop, or a beautiful park to spend your lunch breaks in.
Wherever your temporary office is, make sure you explore the surrounding area. You never know what you may find!
